Mother's Day Recap || Blessing Mothers

For Mother's Day our church had a VIP room specifically for the mothers to enjoy.
My sisters and I were in charge of it and did the decorating and the food.
we had lots of candles and chocolate and lilacs.
We got these lilacs from a friends' bush. They were perfect to decorate with and they gave off a lovely fragrance too!
We made a full breakfast for all the mothers-cappuccino muffins, cinnamon rolls, fruit kabobs, coffee (hot & iced), and juice.

During the service, various gift cards and prizes were given to the oldest mother present, the mother who had most recently changed a diaper, etc. =) Our mother won the prize for mother with the most children present. =)
For the evening, we served hummus w/ pita chips, a veggie platter w/ dip, spinach artichoke dip w/ crackers, and a dessert tray of lemon bars, rhubarb bars, and brownies.
We also had leftover grapes and muffins from the morning.

several friends of ours helped us by being the "backrub committee".
It is such a blessing to have opportunities to serve others. There's seriously nothing that gives so much joy as doing acts of kindness for others, as unto the Lord.
We had several other big projects for church and home that weekend, as well as having company on Friday and Sunday, so it was pretty wild trying to get everything done! But when I fell into bed that Sunday night at ??, I still wouldn't have had it any other way. It was so worth it. And like my sister and I were talking about on the way home that night, it was so awesome to be able to do something to bless this calling that I feel so passionate about, which is motherhood. Mothers sacrifice so much-their time, energy, and LIFE, for their children. It was such an honor to be able to bless them in this way on Mother's Day.
There is JOY in serving others, and in serving Jesus!

  1. love this. what a fabulous idea!!

  2. That's so awesome! Your church looks really nice! About how many people attend?

    1. Its hard to give a number, because we also have an adjoining hispanic church and a bus ministry...but I would say there are about 215 that attend our church.
and then about 150 in the hispanic church, and about 200-300 bus kids (give or take) that ride our buses to church every Sunday morning.

    2. Wow!!! That's a lot of people lol. My church only holds probably 200 and we only average about 80 to 90. I think I would like your church, I've been on the website and it seems like you have a good pastor. What do the kids think about the Sunday school teachings?

  3. What a wonderful thing for you girls to do for the mothers of your church.
    God Bless,
    Hannah L.

  4. I'm obviously pretty late on this post but what a cool idea!! The room looked so inviting and guys are awesome :)
