Welcome to Iowa + the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

This was my view this morning as I drove down our country road.

Gorgeous fog, gorgeous golden corn, gorgeous skies. Its Iowa, y'all. Those who think this isn't beautiful? They just don't understand.

It is Iowa country in its full glory. And this is the most wonderful time of the year, because harvest just started! (insert confetti bursts and happy dances all around) Harvest time, my friends, is beyond exciting. The hum of the combine and the sound of corn filling the wagons are some of my favorites. The smell of a freshly combined field is one I could breathe in anytime, anywhere. The constant activity on our farm of tractors/combine coming and going is exhilarating. I love love LOVE it.

It has been an amazing year. Full of travel, adventure, and God stretching me in so many new ways. I am so grateful for all of His provision + guidance. I wouldn't trade the past nine months for anything.

But I will admit that the current job of putting away the concert clothes/gear and preparing for all things fall and harvest is filling me with this wild joy of a little child.

Because for the next three months I'm going to glory in the joy of being a country girl and living life on this beautiful farm I call home. And that, my friends....is pretty awesome. =)

What's your favorite thing about fall?

  2. We live in a beautiful rural area as well, but I have to admit, your country surroundings indeed are stunning. We couldn't believe how BEAUTIFUL Iowa was in your neck of the woods. God has blessed us so much hasn't He, to be able to enjoy His handiwork where we live every day. :) Happy Fall!

  7. Ohhhh I love this. I've never been to Iowa, but your STUNNING view in the photo above reminds me of Indiana, and that makes me homesick. I'm loving Florida, but Indiana will always be home. :) I'm so so so happy for you that you get to be HOME and enjoy all of your favorite things!! Cannot WAIT to see and hear all about your farm adventures here on your blog in the coming months. <3

  8. How I do miss this! For all the country girls at heart...think of us and enjoy combining season to the fullest! ...get a little extra dust on your face, listen to the crickets, and watch the combine drive into the sunset for just a little longer!
    Blessings,

  9. Autumn is my favorite season! Everything is just perfect about it. Colorful leaves, cool crisp air, bright orange pumpkins, all things pumpkin apple and spice, the smell of holiday treats baking, many guests coming through our home {as always anyway lol} ... warm sweaters and cozy campfires in the back woods.

That is an absolutely gorgeous view. The wild, open country is my favorite, especially acres of rolling hills and farmland. So beautiful. Iowa is a state I've never been to, so it's always fun to see pictures! :-)

  12. Yes, fall is such a gift! Grateful that we live in a place where we can clearly see the different seasons. :) Oh wow, it's difficult to narrow it down to one favorite...the glorious weather, vibrant colors along the road, all things pumpkin/salted caramel flavored, an abundance of apples to bake with/share, etc! We thought of you all last night as we saw many fields being harvested, even late into the night. :) Blessings!

  16. Hi Chelsy! This is my first time to comment here, but I have been reading your blog for quite some time now. I Totally agree with every word, I LOVE harvest time! Love to see the corn filling the bins, the excitement of all the tractors, the combine and all the business of the harvest season. The best part is to be in the middle of it all! #farmgirllove Sara Zimmerman

  18. The above photo...😍. Love. Seriously, that sky + that fog, I can so feel that perfectly crisp fall morning just by looking at that picture. We're trying to soak in every last ounce of sunshine here before we get blanketed with snow for the next 4 months. We miss you all dearly, though none more than Leah misses Liz. She's written her about 5 different letters since we've last seen you which I have completely neglected to get to the post office thus far. Enjoy the last of fall!
