Tonight I'm dropping in on the blog to tell ya'll about an amazing Christmas show in Branson, Missouri, The Johnson Strings!
I rarely do "review" posts, and when I do, they are collaborations. But this post is different. This is one of those rare times when I love and recommend something so highly that I just want to share about it with everyone I can, and writing up a little blog post seems to be the best way to do that.
If you want to go see the show of a lifetime, you need to go to Branson and watch The Johnson Strings perform.
These six siblings are ON FIRE!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Watching their show was a musical and theatrical DREAM. Their talent is superb. (you’ve heard of the piano guys? These siblings are like the piano guys on steroids) Their creativity knows no limits. Each number moved seamlessly into the next, with incredible lighting, dazzling costumes, special effects, awesome choreography, and did I mention talent? A few of us in my family were classically trained and I can tell genuine talent in that department when I see it. If ever I've seen incredible talent, it is in these siblings!
You might not be a classical music lover, but I can almost promise you that if you like professional and entertaining music, of any genre, then you will love their show! My husband is NOT a classical fan, in the slightest, but he loved The Johnson Strings! They take their classical training and then perform their own original arrangements of everything from Disney classics to Christmas staples! I love how they incorporate so many genres of music into one show.

If my boys were giving you a recommendation for their show, they would say that the popcorn is top notch. =)
In all seriousness, while the popcorn was a big hit for the second half, all three of our babies were enthralled by the performance. The boys were absolutely riveted and loved it so much! Maddy was all intrigued until the second half when she was enjoying everything so much she fell asleep. =) Even the couple sitting behind us remarked how much Maddy was into it!
As for John and I, we loved the performance and talked about it the whole way back! (hence this post!)
Laura (center) is the eldest of the Johnson siblings and pours herself into their show!! She is a woman of many talents, playing ten instruments in the show! An interesting fact is that she is also a photographer and was actually John and my wedding photographer! My sis in law Sarah (left) met her at John and my wedding and they have stayed in touch since. After John and I planned to attend their show last week, we found out that Sarah was going to be in Branson that weekend attending the same show! What fun. So we three gals (four with Madeline =)) had to get a picture together.
This incredible show only has six performances left this Christmas season! The Johnson Strings are performing shows Sundays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays until December 9th. Head to this link to reserve a ticket now!
If you aren't able to get to Branson for their show this year, second best would be bringing the show to you! (I promise that you won't regret seeing it LIVE in the theatre, but sometimes I know that isn't possible...) so if you can't get in to Branson, visit their online store and pick up a copy of their Branson Show Live DVD, filmed last year. This DVD would make an awesome Christmas gift, and getting it for your family would ensure a fun December movie night! I even purchased a DVD for my family (parents & unmarried siblings), and I know they are going to love it!
Lastly, if you'd like to get a tiny taste of the skill and creativity of The Johnson Strings, go give their YouTube channel a follow to watch some of their incredible music videos!
In closing, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I'd love to hear in the comments about your favorite music show/concert that you've attended!

It's nice to see Sarah again! We miss her on the Maxwell blog! <3
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so great!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time! Glad Sarah could come. Please tell her I say hi! God bless you all. Love, Rebecca
ReplyDeleteSo glad you all had a great time!! I do have a question and a question/statement to ask you.
ReplyDelete1. Since John's family's blog is not really active anymore, is it ok for us to ask questions regarding them? Your blog is the only blog I know of that still has a little bit of things regarding them, and I just love them and their ministries!
2. Have you ever heard of a place called Sight & Sound Theatres? It is a very biblical place. They take Bible stories and make it literally live on stage! It is for all ages of children and adults. My kids just love it! They also make dvds you can buy to watch it at home. I actually went there in person back in I think 2010. Their website is www.sight-sound.com (let me know if I have the correct link if you take a look at the website.) If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Anyways, so glad you guys had a great time there and it's great too see Sarah again!! How's she doing? Miss seeing her/having her in her families blog!!
How's Madeline doing?
With love,
Dave, Jessica, Emily, Joseph, Mary, Olivia, Keith, & Susanna
Hello!
DeleteThankyou for asking your questions so graciously!
No, I still won’t be answering questions about my in-laws here. I think they likely have an email address listed over on their website so you are welcome to email them with any questions you may have!
Yes I have heard of sight and sound and actually have been to one of their shows! (And seen several more from home)They are incredible productions! Thanks for sharing!
Madeline is doing great. She was six months old the other day!! We are so blessed to have her healthy and thriving!
Which production did you go to and what year was it? Have you gone to anymore besides that one? Do you have any on dvd at home? If so, which ones do you have? Are your kids allowed to watch them? It might already be obvious, but I am a question asker and always have Lol!!
DeleteThank God Madeline is doing so well! God is always so, SO good!
Are you on social media or no? If so, which ones are you on?
God bless!!
Were you all able to take newborn photos of Madeline or was that not possible because of her time in the NICU? If I remember correctly John's sister always took the newborn photos of the new nieces and nephews.
ReplyDeleteAlso I know you hate it when people ask about your family, but tell the Maxwells we miss them and hope they're all well! <3
You are correct! Sadly, we couldn’t bring a photographer into the NICU, so I just took pictures on my phone. And then two weeks after we brought Madeline home, my sister in law Sarah came over and did a photo shoot for her! Even though she was over two months old at that time, she still looked just like a newborn!
DeleteI was hoping to post the pictures from that photo shoot, the other day (January 9th, when she was 6months) but it didn’t happen. One of these days!
I don’t actually hate when people ask about our families (I love all of them so dearly!!) it’s just that this blog is about our family, not either of theirs, and if I answered all the questions I get about other people/them it would change the intent on here! It is easiest to keep this blog to just us and let people contact our families directly if they have questions about them. :)

Happy 3rd Birthday, Axton!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! He had a wonderful birthday! Can’t believe he is three!
