There has been steady progress in Madelines lungs, with the pneumothorax, ever since the urgent prayer request we posted on Thursday night. So much so, that last night her bottom chest tube was removed, and this morning the top one was removed! The X-rays have all been showing encouraging progress ever since! She is healing and progressing! She was taken off the CPAP this morning and has responded great to that as well. Her nose oxygen has been dropped to almost nothing and tonight her supplement IV will be removed and she will be exclusively on my breast milk. With the chest tubes gone, there is no current need for more morphine, and just overall the improvement is so so good! π
It has been a full weekend for our little girlie! The nurses here keep calling her things like “fighter” and “spunky” and I’m seeing it! She loves to kick her long legs and her little mission in life seems to now be seeing how many of her wires and tubes she can pull out and rearrange. π Yesterday I had left to talk to the nurse for a minute and came back to discover that Madeline had pulled the CPAP and started stuffing it in her mouth. π I’m thinking that we will have our hands full with this little lady if these are already her capabilities at this very very early stage! π
My highlight of the day is happening right now as I get to hold her! With the chest tubes, I hadn’t been able to hold her since Monday. So today is literally the biggest highlight ever. Such sweet snuggles with my little daughter!π
Please keep praying! And praising the Lord with us! ❤️

ReplyDeleteI cannot believe this update! To go from two chest tubes and intubated to off the CPAP, you holding her and no IV in a few days?!?! Wow! What AMAZING progress! I think the only explanation is the miraculous power of prayer.
ReplyDeleteShe sounds like quite the character! Even though there's so much heartache and pain when they are born early, I think one of the bright spots is how fun it is to get to know them sooner. One of our Maddy's nicknames became "Mads." Feisty is a word that was used a lot. She kept pulling out all of her IVs to where she ran out of veins and they had to place an umbilical one which meant we couldn't hold her. After several days of not being able to, getting to hold your baby is the BEST. SO happy for you!
Like you said there are probably more ups and downs ahead but if this trajectory continues, I think y'all will be going home well before her due date. We will especially pray for health for you and no setbacks for Madeline. Thanks for the update! I'm still shaking my head in disbelief!
Thankyou!! You get it, with having walked this road yourself. We are truly so grateful for how well she is doing!❤️
